Born in Geneva, Valentine Collet studied with Roland Perrenoud in Geneva, Emanuel Abbühl in Basel and Mannheim, and David Walter in Paris. In 2012, she left to train with Christian Hommel at the International Ensemble Modern Academy, graduating with a Master's degree specialising in contemporary music. Throughout her training, she took part in various international competitions and was awarded grants from the Irène Dénéréaz Foundation in Lausanne and the Live Music Now Rhein-Neckar association.
At the same time, deepening her knowledge of the classical and modern repertoire, Valentine Collet joined orchestral academies in Biel, Basel, Mannheim and Heidelberg, as well as the Lucerne Festival Academy, conducted by Pierre Boulez. Invited to play in numerous orchestras and ensembles in Europe, the oboist enjoys juggling different styles of music.
A member of the Orchestre de chambre fribourgeois since 2009, she is also teaching at the Conservatoire de Fribourg since 2017. Along with her colleagues in the Many Many Oboes quintet, she is actively involved in developing the repertoire of the oboe family. Since 2022, in collaboration with the visual artist Chiara Bertin, she has been exploring the direct link between the visual and the sound in a work of performative composition.
