Born in Savièse (Switzerland), Thierry Debons began studying classical percussion and jazz drums at the Conservatoire and EJMA in Sion. He went on to obtain a Diplôme de capacité professionnelle d'enseignement de la percussion, a Premier Prix de virtuosité and the Prix spécial des amis du Conservatoire from the Haute école de musique in Geneva.

As a percussionist with the Ensemble Contrechamps and Eklekto, Thierry Debons is involved in numerous performances and premieres of works from the contemporary repertoire. As a result, he is in constant contact with the various personalities who make up today's musical and cultural landscape. His musical creations, with their unusual textures, are frequently inspired by these various encounters and experiences.

Interested in multidisciplinary shows, he regularly performs his creations for theatre, dance and circus companies. His musical credits include Showdevant (2008 and 2009), Poèmes à Lou (2011), Monsieur le Jardinier (2012), 5 Jours en Mars (2013-2014), La Suppliante (2016), and La comédie des erreurs (2016-2017).

Professor at the Geneva Conservatory of Music for almost 20 years, he has been director of the Conservatoire cantonal Valais since January 2015.

Professor of instrumental didactics at the Haute Ecole de Musique of both Geneva and Lausanne for ten years, he hosts workshops and conferences for actors, dancers, circus performers and corporations.
