The career of Hans Egidi, a musician of German extraction living in French-speaking Switzerland for a very long time, is characterized by versatility, curiosity and passion for chamber music. After studying the violin in Hanover and Geneva, he continued his work in the realms of baroque and contemporary music. He became a member of Contrechamps, with whom he made his debut as a violist and is, since 2002, the violist of the Sine Nomine Quartet.
He has participated in many tours in the United States, Latin America as well as the Far East and has performed in the great concert halls and festivals of the world, amongst them, Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, the Salle Pleyel of Paris, the Auditorio Nacional of Madrid, the Salzburg Mozarteum, the Lucerne Festival, the Schubertiades of Schwarzenberg and the Biennales of String Quartets in Paris.
He currently teaches viola and chamber music in the Hautes Ecoles de Musique of Lausanne and Sion and has often been invited to judge international string quartet competitions.
