The second part of a series looking into the technologies of the past century, this season we focus on “electric” instruments: guitars, synthesizers and other analog gizmos. Stephen O’Malley is a founding member and guitar player of the bands Sunn O))) and Khanate, and has a strong sensibility for the materiality and plasticity of sound. In his practice, Arturo Corrales combines electric and acoustic sounds into a powerful cocktail. A series of interactive sound installations take us into the heart of the soundscapes of the 80s.
