Serge Bonvalot, tuba
Serge Bonvalot began the cello and the tuba in Saint-Claude in the French Jura, before entering the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève. There he studied with Pierre Pilloud (tuba) and François Guye (cello) and obtained his diploma on both instruments. He then attended the Conservatory National in Lyon and received his First Prize in tuba with a unanimous vote, in the class of Mel Culbertson.
He performs regularly with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, participating in several tours and recordings. In addition, he performs various projects of Contemporary Music, notably with the Ensemble Contrechamps.
A holder of the French Diploma CAF (certificate of aptitude) for the tuba as well as a French State Diploma for the cello, Serge Bonvalot has taught at the Conservatory of Neuchâtel and is currently the professor of tuba in the Conservatoire de Musique of Grenoble.
